Success Is a Journey, Not a Destination

“Success is… knowing your purpose in life, growing to reach your maximum potential, and sowing seeds that benefit others.” ― John C. Maxwell.

Do you ever feel truly successful?

I’ve been lucky enough to travel a bit. I lived in Korea for two years, and I’ve visited Europe, France, and India. Everywhere I go, I meet people. You might be thinking, “Well, Captain Obvious, of course, you see people.” But hear me out. Most of my trips are for work, so I get to spend real time with people and actually get to know them. Just because you’re surrounded by people at the grocery store doesn’t mean they’re your friends, right? But almost everyone I’ve met, and there have been many, are genuinely good people. By “good,” I mean they have good intentions. If they’re parents, they want to be good moms or dads. If they’re working, they want to help their team. In their personal lives, they try to do the right thing and be good people. And there’s something else: everyone I’ve met has hopes and dreams.

Life can get so busy and tough that we sometimes put our hopes and dreams aside. It can even make us feel like we’re not successful. But success isn’t a place you arrive at—it’s something you experience along the way. If you’re getting up each day, taking care of your responsibilities, and doing your best, you’re already successful.

So, take a moment to dance, to dream, and to desire to pursue your dreams.
